Flor Balbis
Flor Balbis is an Argentine vocalist based in Basel, Switzerland. Rooted in jazz and South American song traditions, her work moves across styles while remaining anchored in melody, emotional depth, and an honest search for beauty in simplicity.
She began singing in Buenos Aires as a teenager, immersed in tangos, boleros, candombe and South American folk music. Years later, jazz opened new artistic paths and brought her to Europe, where she completed a Master’s degree in Vocal Jazz at the Conservatorium Maastricht (NL).
As a performer, Flor is drawn to songs that invite listening, reflection and emotional connection. Her warm and expressive voice explores subtle textures, intimate atmospheres and the meeting point between improvisation and song.
Flor has studied with Barbie Martinez, Lucía Lalanne, Myriam Toker, Christine Correa, Sabine Kühlich, among others. Flor’s music embraces versatility without attachment to a defined genre, seeking music that feels both timeless and deeply human.
Singing lessons
My lessons are personal and tailored to your interests and your own artistic quest. We will work on vocal technique and interpretation, learning to connect emotionally with the music and to express yourself with authenticity. I specialize in popular music genres, including Jazz, Blues, Pop, and traditional South American music.
My mission is to cultivate a safe environment where you feel confident to explore and express your creativity, free from fear and judgment. Through awareness of your body sensations and developing your listening skills, we can tap into the natural guidance that leads to finding your own unique voice. This process not only deepens your connection to musical expression but also empowers you to navigate your vocal journey in an authentic and fulfilling way.
Singing is a transformative journey of self-discovery and expression. Whether you’re a complete beginner or possess some musical experience, I am here to guide you every step of the way, helping you navigate your path in a fun, healthy, and liberating manner. Together, we will uncover your unique voice and allow it to shine.
I offer in-person classes for both children and adults, welcoming everyone regardless of their prior experience.
